A series of Lectures on contemporary art in the midst of the capitalocene

under the invitation of artist and lecturer jesse jones. The lectures examined the students’ deep engagement with the island of sherkin, tackling its ecology, community and future sustainability.

BA (hons) in Visual Art is a community-based, four year, honours degree, visual art programme based on Sherkin Island. It is fully accredited, managed and delivered by the Dublin School of Creative Arts,Technological University Dublin (TU) in partnership with Sherkin Island Development Society (SIDS) andUillinn: West Cork Arts Centre, and is part-funded by the Department of Community and RuralDevelopment and Cork County Council


The final exhibition: Threshold opens at UiLLIN, West Cork Art Centre, 21st May - 15th June 2022. artists include ten graduating students: maria archer, dianne curtis, terry farnell, cath mcather, niamh ni chearbaill, Kevin rooney, Robert sobura, ann o’leary, fiona hayes, svetlana mayerova.
